Cookies, my left foot for some cookies.
As it is closing in on the holiday season it was destined that my place of work would have a holiday party. After baking about 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies the night before and loading them into a carry container I was ready to venture forth to the work place. My parking lot is outside a homeless shelter in a not-so-nice part of town.
When I drive into my parking lot a 1-legged Hobo on crutches walked out in front of my car, going from the lot to the building. He only had his right leg. I braked and let him pass, when I parked and got out of the vehicle he took a few steps toward me. Upon seeing the container he said to me:
“Oh, whatcha got there?” He asked
“Cookies” I sleepily mumbled
“Oh… I’d give my left foot for some cookies” He replied
After a brief moment of inside laughter I continued walking toward the steps. Then he continued his thought.
“But… Im diabetic. Cookies could kill me… You’re not trying to kill me, are you?”
At this point, I simply shook my head and proceeding up the stairs, as he watched. Interesting people at 6am…
